The Company Directors

Janice, Andrew and James set up Classical Voice Training in 2015. We saw a need for practical courses for classical singers and teachers involving a specialist team of multidisciplinary professionals in voice working together to give the participants the best quality input both artistically and technically.

Prof. Janice Chapman

Janice is a world-renowned singing teacher and vocal specialist with 30 years experience in the industry. She has sung professionally with all of the major opera companies and is the author of the seminal textbook 'Singing and Teaching Singing: A Holistic Approach to Classical Voice' and our course leader.

James Platt

James is an active international bass soloist, singing teacher, lecturer and vocal researcher current completing his PhD. A former Jette Parker Young Artist with the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, James is currently working with many of the worlds great opera companies.

Andrew Follin

Andrew was a successful soloist with several major opera companies before turning his hand to teaching. He is one of only two Estill Master Trainers working in the north of England and is one of only 100 people who hold this esteemed qualification worldwide. Andrew founded Vocal Skills which fuses his Estill training with the SATS model creating a unique perspective on vocal training.
